This dispatching system directs passengers to the elevator that will get them to their destination with the shortest travel time. By grouping people together based on the floor they are traveling to, the number stops are reduced, thereby improving the efficiency of the building's elevators. Powered by a formula called ETD, or Estimated Time to Destination, it takes into account each passenger's desired destination and dispatches the car that will provide the fastest trip time.
How does it work?
- There is no need for buttons inside the car; instead passengers use the keypad or touch screen to register what floor they are traveling to.
- The keypad or touch screen will graphically direct each passenger to the appropriate car for their destination.
- Once the car arrives, lobby position indicators allow the passengers to see the designated stops for the elevator.
- By dispersing passengers evenly among various cars, they get to their destination faster.
