ThyssenKrupp Partners in freedom tower project

ThyssenKrupp Elevator, one of the world’s leading manufacturers, installers and service providers of vertical and horizontal transportation technology, is proud to be a partner in the construction of the historic Freedom Tower.  The $150 million Freedom Tower contract, awarded in late 2007, includes both installation and maintenance of 64 gearless, six Machine Room-Less and one geared elevator, as well as nine escalators.  The contract stands as one of the largest awards in ThyssenKrupp Elevator history.

Freedom Tower is under construction at the site of the former World Trade Center, and is scheduled to be completed in 2011.  The fastest elevators in the building will reach speeds of up to 1800 fpm.  At project completion, Freedom Tower will reach 1776 feet high and stand 105 stories.  Drawing on its extensive high-rise experience, ThyssenKrupp Elevator will provide elevators and escalators that surpass safety standards and provide passengers with the most innovative technology and design available.

Freedom Tower was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM).  Construction began in 2006.
