Healthcare demands the upmost in reliability and safety; concerns like poor indoor air quality and space limitations are not an option. That is why we design our elevators with only low-emitting materials and offer customizable features to meet the unique operational requirements of medical facilities. With thyssenkrupp Elevator, our objective is to make sure that elevators are the last worry on your mind.
For the owners of the Palomar Medical Center West, partnering with thyssenkrupp Elevator early in the design process saved hundreds of thousands of dollars. During initial planning stages, our experts recommended alternate equipment resulting in this savings. The Palomar Medical Center West project is distinguished as a “Hospital of the Future.” and was designed around the newest and emerging medical technologies. Hospital projects in California can be very challenging to any trade. The building specifications and standards are some of the most stringent in the United States. During the project, a newly adopted code required us to comply with revised building requirement as well as revisions to the Special Seismic Certification (SSC) of critical elements in the building design with respect to building function after a seismic event. thyssenkrupp Elevator was the first in the elevator industry to take on the challenge of testing and certifying elevator equipment under the project specific seismic criteria.
Phoebe Sumter Medical Center needed to keep their elevator passengers' hands clean. So clean, in fact, that the project required a hand-washing station at every elevator hall pushbutton in the building.
